Addison already wants to wear makeup. Whenever I am getting ready she always wants me to put some on her. I usually just pretend. And she always plays in my makeup bag, because up until now she couldn't open anything. So, when I got in the shower the other day and she was playing in my make up bag I wasn't to concerned. Well, as I was showering Regan started telling on her (while, as I found out later, fully participating). I got out of the shower to find half of my foundation on the floor and on Addison. And both of the girls with mascara on. I think I did a pretty good job of keeping my cool. And next time I will make sure my makeup bag is out of reach.

Addison's Surgery

The picture is from Matt's phone, which is why the quality isn't that good. The look on her face is because she didn't like the hospital gown, not because she is worried about surgery. As soon as we put it on she said... I'm done with this. Take it off. She also didn't like the hospital bracelet. She kept saying Ow. Mommy, Ow. And she REALLY didn't like that she couldn't have milk. She kept trying to get in my purse to get her cup that I had in there for after surgery. Other than that, she did really well. They gave her some happy drugs so that she would go into surgery willingly. It made her a little drunk, and it was hard not to laugh. When we went back for recovery she was crying, because she wanted us. But she calmed down pretty quickly once I rocked her a little bit. She seems to be doing well so far. They were amazed that she sleeps as well as she does with as much fluid as she had in her ears. They said she is probably going to be sensitive to noise for a day or two. They did not take out her adnoids. They didn't feel that her pallet was long enough and the adnoids were not puss filled so there no reason to risk it.

Christmas
I was to busy enjoying Christmas to get a lot of picture's; but I think I got some good ones, anyway. The girl's really had a good Christmas. Regan was very excited this year, and reminded me of myself when I was a kid. If there was a present to be opened, she wanted to open it. She also had a special excited voice that she used to announce what she got. And towards the end of announcing her Santa present she would sometimes say them in a normal voice and then immediately follow it with an excited announcement. Addison was not so interested in her own presents, at first, as she was in her sister's. But did finally notice them once her sister showed them to her.
Regan's favorite present (by far) was her American Girl doll. And I was a little relieved this morning when she changed her clothes by herself. She has had several names, but so far we are sticking with Kaylee. Regan also really liked her princess barbie dolls.
Addison's favorite present's were her stroller's and her little people fair ground. Particularly the roller coaster part. For some reason she call's it putting the baby in the bus. Even though the little person that she uses is not a baby and the "bus" is a purple car.
The other big news is that Addison made friends with my Aunt's dog Leroy. She is not particularly fond of dogs. But I think she realized that she is much more concerned about Leroy than he is about her. That is, of course, unless she has food. She wanted to know where he was at all times and it seemed that it was more because she liked him than that she was afraid. She likes to know where people that she likes are. She is always asking me where Daddy is or Regan or her friend Emory, etc... are when they are not around.
Thank you to Aunt Carla and Dick for having us. We always have a good time with you guy's. And thank you to Meredith for being my children's personal slave for the weekend. I love you like a sister... and we better see you during your field work term. : )

Birthday Party for Jesus
Our neighbor's had us over to decorate sugar cookies, make reindeer food, and decorate cupcakes. She put candles in the cupcakes and we sang Happy Birthday to Jesus. It was really cute. The kid's had a great time!
Addison insisted on pouring out all of the sprinkles for one of the bottles. She also keeps telling me that they sang Happy Birthday to her.

You Learn Something New Everyday
Today I learned that Regan knows how to count by 5's and 10's. She was in one of her talking constantly moods, so I figured we might as well make it productive. I asked her to count as high as she could and she told me she could count by 5's and 10's, and she did. Also, apparently they pray before lunch at Addison's school. She was sitting in her car seat and randomly said the God is good prayer. So, now I feel guilty and we will start praying before dinner.
Follow Up ENT Visit
Addison went to the ENT today for a follow up appointment. She still has fluid in her left ear and the residual hole in her right ear is not big enough to do anything. They said her right ear looks good, but we might as well put a tube in it while she is under. She is getting tubes put in and her adnoids removed the Wednesday after Christmas. Until then, we will do breathing treatments at least once a day and more if needed.

Time for the Annual Holiday Torture

I took the girls to see Santa today after school. This was actually Regan's third time seeing Santa. She saw him at the Christmas tea and at school today. Since she was already in her Christmas dress I decided it was a good opportunity to torture both myself and Addison and get a picture with Santa. In the stress of being at the mall at this time of year, I accidentally ordered eight wallets instead of the 3X5 that I usually get. Oh well!

Exciting Speech News
Addison went for her monthly speech appointment today. They said that she is doing so well that we can start going every three months. They were very happy with her progress. I'm ecstatic!
Sunday, December 14, 2008
It was a busy day on Saturday. Two birthday parties and a 5k. Thankfully, Matt's mom was here to help us. After the horse riding party, we drove to Mandeville for Quinn's party. They had it at the gymnastics place. It's such a cute place for a party. They have lot's for the kids to do and the employees are really good with the kids. Even the teenagers. Which is not always the case.
