Asbury's Trunk or Treat

After Emory's birthday party, we headed over to his and Addison's school for the annual trunk or treat. The kid's trick or treat out of the trunks. And then they have games inside for the kids. Regan was mostly interested in the face painting and the cookie walk. I think she would walk around in a circle all day. Addison loved getting treats. Halloween is definitely her favorite holiday.

Emory's 3rd Birthday

Addison's best friend Emory's birthday party this weekend. It was a costume party, so the kid's wore their costumes. They had a lot of fun!

It's all about the costume...

While I was out running on Saturday, the girls wanted to go in the backyard and play soccer. Of course, they had to put on the appropriate costumes. Addison has on a baseball t-shirt that she borrowed from her best friend, Emory, that we have never given back. If it were up to Addison, this is how she would dress every day. Regan had to put on her soccer gear from her very short stint as a soccer player. Thankfully, we have two princess balls.

Regan's first kindergarten parent/teacher conference

I am proud to report that Regan had another good parent/teacher conference. She got the highest marks on everything except coins. She got a with help on that because she got the nickel and the dime confused. She is also being put in the accelerated reading program. Her teacher says that she has very strong phonic skills (thank you leap frog letter factory).

Here are her teacher's comments:

Regan is a wonderful student. She is well prepared academically. She is always helpful, listens well and is cooperative. She always participates - that deep voice is hard to miss! She seems to really enjoy all activities at school.

Her teacher seems to really love Regan.... and a teacher that loves Regan is a teacher that I love.

Onions

I think I have mentioned before that Addison loves onions. After 20+ years of ordering my hamburger without onions at McDonalds, I have started ordering my hamburger with onions so that I can give her my onions and she still wants more. So, the other day out of habit I ordered my hamburger without onions. From the backseat I hear Addison yelling.... don't order it without onions! I like onions! I immediately remembered and asked the lady to add the onions back on my hamburger.

The other thing she does is when she's tired she says "Mommy, I'm not tired a little bit."

Our Little Puppy Dog

Pinkalicious

It was a rainy day today, so we decided to make cupcakes. We also made some egg carton bugs, but we haven't finished them so I will have pictures of those later. I wanted to make the cupcakes (or pupcakes as Addison kept calling them) from scratch, so that the kid's would have an opportunity to put in the ingredients. I looked online and found an "easy cupcake" recipe. I need to search for other recipes, because these weren't the best tasting cupcakes. They weren't bad, but they could have been better. But the kid's had fun and that is the important thing. Matt tried to convince them to leave a few without sprinkles. He succeeded in convincing Regan not to put sprinkles on one (probably because she had no real interest in eating them). But Addison could not be convinced (probably because she had every intention of eating her fair share).

Book Dedication

Okay, so this happened last week but for some reason I forgot to post the pictures. I actually forgot my camera, go figure. But luckily my friend saved the day and met me at Addison's school with a camera. Regan was very happy to get her books. Not so coincidentally, all of her books were princess books and the teacher who was reading her dedications said "Regan, I am sensing a theme here."
On a side note: Aunt Bonnie, Regan was not so sure about princesses wearing hiking boots. She said to me "Mommy, princesses don't really wear hiking boots, do they?"

More Pool Time

Yesterday the girl's played in the pool while I worked. I had to work at a Junior League event and Darcy was kind enough to keep the girl's for me. Thanks Darcy!

High School Dedication

On Wednesday Regan had a half day at school, because they were dedicating the high school. I went to the dedication and brought Regan home afterwards. It was a very nice dedication. The bishop of Louisiana came and did the sermon and the dedication. It was very nice.

Pool Time

Darcy is visiting us this week from Montana with her beautiful baby. She is one of the cutest, happiest babies that I have ever seen. Of course, Addison is in heaven. She has been very funny this week. I picked them up from the airport in New Orleans and brought them to Sue's house before we made the trek to good ole Lafayette. Addison wanted to help feed Ryenn (Darcy's baby). So, she has the spoon up to Ryenn's mouth and she says "Eat this, baby." She mostly calls her baby and sometimes baby Ryenn. The first night that Ryenn was here as Addison was going to bed she said "I don't want baby Ryenn to leave." I think she was afraid that she was going to leave after she went to sleep. Regan has enjoyed having Ryenn here, too. Everyday when I pick her up from school she asks if Ryenn is away, because she wants to play with her.

Addison's First Big Girl Haircut

Addison got her first big girl haircut last weekend. I have to say, she did really well. It was her first time not sitting on my lap while she got her haircut. As always, I think it helped that her sister went first. It also helped a lot that Matt's mom came and got the girls when they were done. Thanks Sue!

Funny Story

Matt to Addison this morning: Are you ready for big girl school?

Addison to Matt: Yes! Are you ready for big boy work?

Addison's First Day of School

Well, I must say I felt guilty because I could not bring Addison for her first day of her 2 1/2 year old class. I had to work at my Junior League placement. But I think it actually worked out better. Her best friend's mom took her for me. As soon as I told her that she had school today... her first question was "Is Emory going to be there?" Then she was very excited to go to Emory's house. She likes to go to his house, because he has lots of instruments. Now if you have seen our playroom, you know that my children are not deprived of toys. And we even have some instruments. But we don't have as many as Emory.... so, his house is better. : ) I think it was also better that she was able to walk in to class with him. His mom told me that Emory was basically telling her to get lost and Addison was just following along after him. I don't know what they are going to do when they have to go to different schools, but we have two more years to worry about that....

Inpromptu Princess Party

Regan is ALWAYS planning a party at our house. Everyday she is planning a different kind of party that she is going to invite people to. She makes lists of who to invite. She writes invitations. Matt and I are convinced that she is either going to be a party planner or an actress. We're not sure which she loves more... the stage or a party. Today we were at a neighborhood birthday party and the neighborhood girls decided they wanted to come over to our house to play. I heard them calling it a princess party, so I guess Regan finally got her wish.
