Addison is almost fully potty trained. I say almost, because (knock on wood) she is wearing panties all day and has not had any accidents.... but she is still getting the hang of public potties and she still wears a diaper at night (and will continue to for a long while). She doesn't dislike public potties, like her sister. In fact, I think she is going to be my one that has to check them all out. But I think it is hard for her to be comfortable enough to go on them, because she is so little. I know this is more information than any of you ever wanted to know.... so I apologize if this is tmi. When you are mother, you discuss these things without a thought.
She has also decided to give up her naps. And instead of phasing out she has just completely given them up. It's a little sad for me, because she was such a good napper. But in a way it is good, because we really don't have time for her to take naps anymore. And she will still go in her bed if I tell her that she has to take a nap. She just looks at books instead of sleeping.
Last Monday she got tubes in her ears for the third time. Her ears are an ongoing problem due to her cleft pallet. The surgery went really well. Last time when we went back after her surgery, she was really mad that we weren't there. This time she was still a little drunk and was playing with the oxygen tube. She came home and watched about 15 Dora's and then had some lunch. After lunch she was running around with her baby, so I decided she didn't need any Motrin. I put her down for a nap and she looked at her books. That is when I realized she really is not going to nap anymore. The doctor asked us if we had noticed any issues with her speech or hearing, because she had so much fluid in her ears. I really didn't. But now I notice a difference with her phone conversations. She always wants to talk to whoever I am talking to. Before her surgery she couldn't really hear what the other person was saying and she was hard to understand on the phone. Now she has conversations with people. Since she is only 2 1/2, I didn't really think much of not being able to understand her on the phone, but I definitely see a difference after the surgery.

Princess Party
I took the girls to their good friend Charlotte's birthday party today. It was a princess party, and they had a blast! Regan was very excited to wear a princess costume to a party. She actually overheard me talking to Charlotte's mom about it on the phone and was planning what she was going to wear from then on.

Backyard Fun
We had some unseasonably cool weather today... and by cool I mean low 80's/high 70's .... So, we were able to enjoy our backyard tonight for the first time in a while. I went inside and came out to find Addison and Regan on the two person swing. Regan wanted Addison to do it with her, but I didn't think Addison would agree to it. Of course, I had to get my camera to document it. And, of course, as soon as I did they were already moving onto something else... and by something else, I mean Regan needed to face the camera so that she could get her pose on.
Regan's School Birthday

We brought cupcakes to Regan's school on Wednesday. She's in kindergarten and she has a pretty serious teacher, so we dropped the cupcakes off and left. When we got to the car Addison started crying alligator tears because she didn't get to sing happy birthday to Regan. I think she was really upset that she didn't get to eat a cupcake.... I consoled her with telling her that we were going to Target and we would get some more cupcakes and sing happy birthday to Regan when she got home. That seemed to console her a little.

Regan had a really nice birthday party. I still can't believe that she is five years old! She will be starting Kindergarten next week and will be wearing a uniform. Where does the time go?
Her actual birthday is August 19th. If you would like to send a book to be dedicated to her school's library, please let me know.

Addison's Dance Camp
Addison really enjoyed her dance camp which, I have to say, really surprised me. She said that she wanted to take dancing, but I didn't believe her. I am so glad that they have the camps in the summer, so that you can see if they really like it before making the year long dance review commitment. I really thought we were going to do one day and that was going to be the end of that. Mostly because it was a class where she only knew one other girl and didn't know any of the teachers. It just goes to show, you never know. Although, I do think going with Regan to her dance class since she was nine months old helped. She kept saying "You and Sissy have to wait outside." The pictures I took were taken through tinted class, but you get the idea. I signed her up for the fall, so hopefully she will like the stage.

Bowling
We took the girl's bowling today. They did pretty well with the first game, but where pretty much over it by the end it. We bribed Regan with fries to play a second game. Addison, however, wanted nothing to do with the first part of the second game. She would tell us that she was drinking (in an indignant voice) and would take a big sip of her drink to prove her point. By the end of the second game she started playing again. But I really think she only started playing again to keep Matt from playing her turn. Being the second child, she is always trying to make sure that she isn't getting short changed.
